[Chloe resists the urge to pull back and dab at his eyes, knowing Jiro probably needs more manna than he needs to not be cried on. At least it's only a little! Silently hoping he's helping, Chloe just holds him tight.]

You're not dumb... But I'll make sure it doesn't happen to you again!

[Maybe he was feeling lonely without his brothers and friends. It was scary being on his own like this, stuck in a world where he knew no one.]

....I miss my brothers. I've always had someone else to rely on, and I don't even know how to be a big brother to Saburo. I dunno what I'm doing, Chloe.

It's okay to miss them! It's probably normal! I think everyone I've met here misses someone who isn't here. But I always tell those people, if we don't take care of ourselves, how can we take care of them if they come here?

[He laughs faintly.]

It's... what I tell myself, too. If Rustica comes, I have to be ready! Until then, I'll just do my best. Even if you didn't know what you were doing before, there's lots of time here to learn about yourself and be a better person.

[Giving Jiro a little a squeeze, he hums softly.]

Do you want to try relying on me? I'm really good at taking care of people... even if I'm not good at being family, I try to be a good friend.

[middlebruh]

I dunno...I'm not really good at school either. 't's too boring and I can't sit still.

[Still, he got why Ichiro insisted on it. Even with the new resolve to think for himself, it didn't get him any closer to answers. He was just falling back on his old habit of wanting Ichiro again.]

I told him I'd stop hero worshipping him and now look at me. I can't even stop thinking about my brothers. They'd probably really like you....you'd be way better at being a cool brother than me.

I don't...I don't wanna put anything more on you. I should do things myself.

Well... um. I never went to school, so I don't know that it means much. I'm not very smart, or strong, but... I think if you just do your best at being you that's all they will ever ask for.

[He sounds a little sad.]

Your brothers love you! They sound like they do. So as long as you're you, they'll probably be proud of you and want you to be happy. Even if they're not here.

If you lean on me, it's okay. I... [He doesn't want to scare Jiro off.] I really care about you and don't want bad things to happen to you! Please... let me help.

[middlebruh]

I'm always causing trouble for them though! I'm not the one anyone cares about 'cause I'm just in the middle, and I...

[He is leaning on Chloe now, though mostly in the physical sense.]

Do you know how many times I've been used against Aniki because I've been so weak? I'm supposed to be a man. I'm supposed to be the one you depend on!!

I care about you... I mean it. I think you're great because you're you. And we're, um, we're bros, right?

[Holding him tighter now, Chloe runs a hand across Jiro's back.]

I'm older than you, and I still feel really weak and powerless compared to all the people I know. I think it's okay, though. If you have a long way to go, it's okay!

[He pulls back a little, pushing some of Jiro's hair out of his face and looking into his eyes with all sincerity. What would Rustica do? What would Rustica say? Rustica is always the best at making Chloe feel better...]

Maybe I haven't said it, because I don't want to scare you, but I do depend on you, and I missed you a lot. Sometimes you rely on one person for one thing, and someone else for another thing, because we all have different things we're good at! Well, you're one of the people I rely on. You always make me laugh, and you always say the nicest things about my sewing... You told me about cosplay, and we can talk about music, right?

[Leaning in, he kisses Jiro on the corner of his lips, hoping the gesture is soothing.]

[If Chloe wanted a way to get Jiro to shut up and stop thinking, he found the most effective way. He'd never been kissed before, and certainly not by someone so cute. He knew he had to say something or Chloe might have that devestated look on his face again and he'd rather die.]

I....um...t-thanks.......

[Maybe his eyes were squinting because he didn't want the tears to fall; he hadn't cried since Ichiro revealed his lie and he wanted it to stay that way. But his feelings were overwhelming him.]

I don't...I don't know what I'm good at. You can do so many cool things that I wish I could like...show my brothers. I just wanna....I want to be cooler than Ichiro. So even Saburo thinks he can rely on me....

[Chloe's trying everything he knows to help, and he can tell he's not doing the best job... This was always Rustica's forte, not Chloe's. But Jiro is his friend, and he wants to help more than anything in the world right now. He has to find a way, no matter how helpless he feels. It's the right thing to do.

Shaking his head, he pulls a handkerchief out and presses it into one of Jiro's hands.]

You just haven't found it yet! The thing that makes you feel as cool as I think you already are. They'd be proud of you just for making it around here, I bet! I think your kindness is really cool, and your rapping, and your smile makes everyone around you feel like everything's going to be okay...

[middlebruh]

[He didn't normally use things like handkerchiefs, but his face was probably disgusting and hopefully he didn't ruin it.]

.....Who knows if they'd say what they'd think, or they miss me as much as I miss them. I....

[But he doesn't know what to say to Chloe. No one's ever complimented his smile like that before.]

I like rapping, and playing soccer and skateboarding, but that doesn't make me cool. W-what do cool older brothers do? You're so good at lookin' after yourself and a ton of other things I can do...

[Chloe says it with the conviction of someone who's convinced himself of the same applying to him.]

And... I'm not really good at much. You just haven't noticed all the things I'm bad at! I can sew, I can keep to a schedule sometimes, but... Lots of things, lots and lots of people do better. Here, and especially at home!

[Smiling softly, he takes Jiro's free hand in both of his.]

I bet cool older brothers think a lot about what their brothers think of them. They worry that they're not good enough, because they're always thinking about what's best for their family, and wanting to do everything in their power to be their very best. Even if their best isn't anything big and flashy, them trying hard and loving as much as they can makes them cooler than anyone. I mean it.
